Paul Byrne
Paul Byrne is a Senior Lecturer in Professional Skills at Ruskin College. Before joining the Claude Littner Business School at the University of West London in 2016, Paul trained originally as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), and worked for over 30 years in the NHS is various senior management roles. He also worked as a volunteer Police Officer at the rank of Inspector for 10 years in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea managing over 120 officers and taking a lead role in policing high profile events in central London.
Within the University his role is to promote attendance and engagement and to help improve attainment levels for all students and in particular students from BAME backgrounds. He is the course leader for level 4 students in the Business school and has a lead role in support personal tutoring within the school. He teaches on a range of subjects ranging from Professional skills to Learning Through Work and is a member of the HRM academic team. He is also the link tutor for students on placements as a part of their degree pathways.
Paul is also a member of the school executive committee and deals with student disciplinary and academic offence issues as well as mitigation and appeals claims.

I trained originally as a registered mental health nurse and worked for over 30 years in the NHS in senior management roles. As well as leading this course I am the retention and engagement lead at UWL, working to ensure all students achieve their potential.
