But what is a Foundation Year?

A Foundation Year is tailor-made academic year which takes place before your undergraduate study.

You will spend it building your skills in good academic practices while experiencing all the aspects of student life. After which, you will be ready to progress seamlessly to your chosen degree.

Why should I study a Foundation Year?

Our Foundation Year course is particularly suited to you if:

  • you do not have the relevant qualifications
  • you are returning to study and need to build up your skills and/or confidence

At the end of an academic year spent focusing on a range of subjects designed to underpin your future study you will be ready to start your undergraduate degree.

What will I study?

The Foundation Year's curriculum has been designed to be taught in nurturing, small classes with individual support to help you get the most out of your studies and prepare you to study your chosen degree programme.

By successfully completing the Ruskin Foundation Year, you will seamlessly progress on to your degree programme.

The Ruskin Foundation Year is designed to equip you with the skills and confidence required to succeed on your chosen degree programme.

We welcome applications from all as your application will be considered on an individual basis.

Path to Success Bursary

If you are a UK student joining a foundation year course with Ruskin, you will receive a £2000 Path to Success bursary to support your studies. This is not a loan and does not need to be repaid. You will receive £500 per year subject to your attendance, engagement and progression through your studies.
