About the course

This course is an introductory-level course in Public Health. There are many areas in society which are touched by Public Health, and this course is designed for someone with an interest in learning the foundations of, and possibly pursuing a career in this discipline. No previous experience is necessary.

 
You must be 19 years of age or older to attend this course.

  • Skills acquired

    By the end of the course, learners will:

    • Understand what Public Health is, and how it plays a part in everyday society.

    • Demonstrate some knowledge and understanding of the wider determinants of health.

    • Understand risk factors, the difference between infectious and non-infectious diseases and how we try to manage these.

    • Demonstrate some awareness of health promotion and its applications in everyday life.

    • Learn of different career paths in the Public Health field.
