About the course

This course introduces participants to fundamental financial concepts, such as managing budgets, understanding basic financial statements, and calculating interest. It is ideal for individuals with little to no background in finance who wish to build confidence in handling personal or basic business finances.
 
You must be 19 years of age or older to attend this course.

    • Week 1 - Introduction to Finance: Overview of financial principles and personal finance basics. 

    • Week 2 - Basic Financial Terminology: Understanding terms like income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and net worth. 

    • Week 3 - Budgeting Essentials: Creating and managing personal or small business budgets. 

    • Week 4 - Introduction to Saving and Investments: Basic saving strategies and an overview of investment options. 

    • Week 5 - Introduction to Financial Statements: Understanding simple income statements and balance sheets. 

    • Week 6 - Basic Banking and Transactions: How to use banking tools like checks, online banking, and credit cards responsibly. 

    • Week 7 - Interest and Loans: Understanding simple and compound interest, and basics of loans and repayments. 

    • Week 8 - Introduction to Taxes: Understanding basic tax concepts like income tax and VAT. 

    • Week 9 - Financial Planning Basics: Setting financial goals and creating a simple financial plan. 

    • Week 10 - Preparing for Level 1 Finance: Reviewing key skills and introducing advanced finance topics.

  • Skills acquired

    By the end of the course, learners will:

    • Understand the basics of finance and financial terminology.
    • Create and manage simple budgets.
    • Interpret basic financial statements.
    • Understand the principles of saving, investing, and borrowing.
