This course will be delivered online using Google Meet.
An introduction to the psychology of human memory and mental health that is suitable for anyone interested in what psychology is, specifically areas of memory and mental health. You’ll learn about the different ways memory has been investigated, looking at models of memory, retrieval failure and interference. We will also cover eyewitness testimony and factors that affect eyewitness testimony. As part of the mental health topics, we will look at schizophrenia, depression and OCD. Please note that if you have studied the ‘Introduction to Psychology’ course this year there will be some overlap in the content on this unit but if you would like specific information about this please get in touch.
You must be 19 years of age or older to attend this course.

Skills acquired
By the end of the course, you will have an awareness of the different aspects of human memory and models used to explain memory. You will also have an awareness of different areas of mental health, including how the approaches explain schizophrenia, OCD and an understanding of some of the treatment methods available. You will be able to recognise key areas that use psychology in everyday life and the methods that are used in the study of the human mind and behaviour.
